Google Home commands work on the Home Mini as well.
TL;DR
  • You can now return unwanted gifts to the Google Store.
  • To start a return, you must provide your name, zip code, and order number.
  • The Google Store’s gift return policy is only available in the U.S. at the moment, though that could change.

It’s not that I don’t appreciate being given enough Google Home Minis to stock each of my two bathrooms, but who needs that many of Google’s talkative hockey puck? That is why it is about time that the Google Store now lets customers return gifts.

To return a gift like the monster you are, make your way to the gift return page. You must sign into your Google account, which autofills your name and zip code, though you must still provide the order number. That might require an awkward conversation with the gift giver, so make sure you feel as bad as possible before you start that conversation.

Once you confirm the item you want to return, Google will send you return shipping labels that you can slap on the box with the gift(s) inside. Once Google receives the package, you will receive Google Store credit in the amount of the original purchase cost.

Keep in mind that, even though the credit will not expire, you cannot transfer the credit to a different account. Also, since you do not get cash for the return, the credit will only work on devices available through the Google Store.

Finally, the Google Store’s gift return seems to only be live in the U.S. for the time being. Google did not say whether the policy will make its way to other regions, though that would be a safe bet to make.
