Attention Indie Game developers and lovers of the quirky content they create! The Android Developer’s blog has formally announced the Google Play Indie Games Festival. This celebration of “art, whimsy, and delight” will be held at the Terra Gallery in San Francisco on September 24.

If you’re interested in showcasing a game at the event, head on over to the official submissions page. Google will be accepting applications through August 14, so don’t delay! Being able to showcase your game at this event could give your indie title the much needed boost it needs to reach a larger audience. That’s not even mentioning the networking potential.

To sweeten the deal, Google is also going to be doling out prizes such as Tango devices, tickets to Google I/O 2017, and free Google ad campaign support. There’s no price for admission, and even if you’re not a developer, you’ll probably want to show up for the opportunity to play these inventive new games and vote for which you think are best.

Selections will be made based on the quality of games and how unique their gameplay mechanics are. US and Canadian developers with a staff of 15 or fewer staff are eligible, and games must have been published or be scheduled to be published during the year 2016.

Of particular interest are games that play around with virtual reality and augmented reality, since the rise of VR headsets and games like Pokemon Go have made it clear that 2016 is the year that these technologies have gone mainstream. Check out the full set of rules for entry over here.
