TL;DR
  • New images and info for the upcoming Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch have leaked.
  • The wearable devices are expected to use the new Wear OS co-developed by Google and Samsung.
  • The smartwatches are expected to go on sale in late September in Germany.

Earlier this month, we got our official first glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. It’s the first smartwatch that uses the revamped Wear OS that Google co-developed with Samsung. Now, a new leak from Winfuture.de gives us the first look at the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch, which could be the first wearable device outside of Samsung’s product with the new Wear OS. The Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch, which uses the older version of Wear OS, launched in 2019, so we have been waiting a while for the next Fossil wearable device to arrive.

According to WinFuture.de’s info, the Gen 6 smartwatches will have a brighter 1.28-inch OLED display with a resolution of 416×416, compared to the AMOLED display on the Gen 5. Inside, the Gen 6 smartwatch will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, along with 8GB of storage. The battery life is expected to last up to 24 hours, and it should take about an hour to charge the watch fully.

According to the article, the smartwatches will be sold in various versions for men and women, with case sizes of either 42mm or 44mm wide. The watches should also be able to work while submerged in water, down to 50 meters.  The article states that the watches will have sensors on the back for monitoring activities like steps, sleep, heart rate, cardio levels, and more. Leather, fabric, and metal bands are expected to be offered as well.

The prices for the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches should be between €299 to €329 in Germany, according to the article, and they should go on sale on September 27 in that country. Of course, prices and launch dates for other markets, including the US, could be different.
