F-Secure Freedome VPN - Indie app of the day
What is F-Secure Freedome VPN?
Freedome is a simple application to use. It doesn’t require too much of a set up so even VPN novices can still use this app without much difficulty. You simply tap the center of the screen to turn it on. From there you can alter your virtual location if you so choose, see all the settings, and even view explanations as to what each setting does. The design is colorful and spacious. You are never more than two taps or swipes away from any individual setting.
Once set up the app not only acts as a VPN but also as a sort of browsing security app. If you find your way to a harmful site, F-Secure prevents you from going there. If an attack is attempted on your device, this app will stop it. Then you can go to the settings and see how many sites and attacks have been attempted. That’s really it folks.
The app is free download and you get a seven day free trial to see if you like it. If you do, you can purchase a subscription on a yearly or monthly basis depending on your needs. It’s $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year.
What is wrong with this app?
The app currently rocks a 4.5 rating in the Google Play Store so as you can imagine there isn’t much wrong. Some people have had connection issues where the app simply will not connect to the VPN server. Other connection issues that have been reported include not having access to the internet at all when Freedome is active. The developers have responded to all complaints so far and that’s usually a good sign.
Final thoughts
If you’re in the market for a VPN app, it’s hard not to recommend F-Secure Freedome. It has a simplistic and well-designed interface and it works for pretty much everyone. Having a VPN app around is never a bad idea especially if you travel frequently or regularly use public WiFi.
