Is Duolingo down for you? Here's what's going on (Update: Back)
Oct 27, 2026 — 4:37 PM ET

- Duolingo currently reports “increased errors” on its status page.
- Leaderboards are down, and users are having trouble connecting to the app.
- Duolingo shares that it’s investigating the incident but has no word yet on a fix.
Update, October 27, 2026 (05:09 PM ET): Well, that didn’t take long! Roughly 45 minutes after first reporting the outage, Duolingo is sounding the all-clear.
Original article, October 27, 2026 (04:37 PM ET): Keeping your Duolingo streak may be the single-most important feat you accomplish every day. Ok, so maybe that’s a smidge hyperbolic, but let’s not pretend that carrying a years-long streak isn’t one serious badge of honor. That’s exactly why we’re so upset when we learn about any service outage impacting Duolingo availability. We just got done dealing with one last week, and now there’s another getting in the way of our language study.
Over on the official Duolingo status page, the service reports that it is actively investigating a new disruption. The incident has resulted in increases error rates across the service, and appears to have just gotten started about 15 minutes ago.
Over on Downdetector, we’re also starting to see the first reports arrive, and have noticed the Duolingo leaderboard down when checking for ourselves.
