Die Hard is a Christmas movie: here's where you can stream for the holidays

There are tons of great Christmas movies, both classic and new, on streaming services such as Netflix and Disney Plus this holiday season. However, over the past decade or so, one movie has become the subject of much debate: Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? No matter where you stand on the debate surrounding one of the best action movies of all time, you may also wonder where Die Hard is streaming this holiday season.

Nope, it’s not on Netflix or Hulu, or Disney Plus. We will tell you where the movie is available to watch in the US, plus an alternative if you don’t want to sign up for the service.

Where is Die Hard streaming?

You will be able to watch John McClane save his wife and the other employees of the Nakatomi Corporation (well, most of them) from Hans Gruber and his gang of thieves on Christmas Eve on Starz. You can normally sign up for the service for $8.99 a month with a free seven-day trial. If you have never tried Starz before, you can sign up and watch Die Hard for free for the first seven days (along with the Christmas-themed sequel Die Hard 2 as well).

Try renting or buying a digital copy

If you don’t want to sign up for yet another streaming service, even one with a free trial, you can rent or buy a copy of Die Hard from one of the many digital movie store sites. We would recommend renting or buying it from Amazon Prime Video, with a 48-hour rental currently priced at $3.99. You can also buy it outright for $9.99 at the moment.

So what’s the advantage in renting or buying Die Hard digitally, compared to signing up for Starz? The big reason is that you can rent or buy the movie and watch it in a 4K UHD resolution, compared to watching it via Starz, which only supports 1080p resolution. That means you can get a much picture of John McClane taking out Gruber and his posse on your 4K supported smart television
