BQ Aquaris X2
TL;DR
  • The BQ Aquaris X2 and Aquaris X2 Pro are Android One smartphones with 18:9 displays.
  • The price points for the phones are higher than other Android One devices, but the specs are also bumped up.
  • The X2 line is in the pre-order phase right now, with no set release date yet known.

Spanish smartphone manufacturer BQ released the first Android One device in Europe, the BQ Aquaris A4.5. Now it is releasing two new Android One devices, the BQ Aquaris X2 and Aquaris X2 Pro, which both have a notable feature: an 18:9 display ratio.

The new Aquaris X2 and X2 Pro are much more expensive phones than the Aquaris A4.5. The X2 line starts at €300 (~$356) while the latter released at €169 (~$200). This is interesting because part of Google’s intention with Android One is to help bring unity to the low-end smartphone market. While $356 is indeed less expensive than something like the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – which could cost you nearly $1,000 – a $366 price is a little more mid-range than low-end.

Both the regular and pro versions of the Aquaris X2 ship with the Android One variant of Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. They also all have a 5.65-inch 18:9 display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080.

The Aquaris X2 comes in two different color choices and two spec configurations. The 32GB version with 3GB of RAM comes in either White/Sand Gold or Black/Carbon Black. There’s also a 64GB storage version which has 4GB of RAM. That version is only available in Black/Carbon Black.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 runs both versions of the Aquaris X2.

Meanwhile, the Aquaris X2 Pro comes in three different colors and two different spec configurations. The Black/Deep Silver variant has 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, while the White/White Glaze and the Black/Midnight Black variants both have 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. The 128GB option, the most expensive in the X2 line, has a price of €500 (~$593).

Each Pro variant runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660.

The Aquaris X2 line is only available for pre-order right now and only on the Spanish version of the BQ store. Click the button below to see the product pages for the devices.
