BlinxBox for Instagram: Social photo feeds on your homescreen, even without Instagram

Users of the popular photo editor and file sharing wonder, Instagram, will soon hit another milestone in user satisfaction, thanks to an application known as BlinxBox that compliments Instagram well. In just a matter of hours after its release on the Google Play Store, Instagram reached the five million download mark, making it one of the most popular social and photography applications.

Apple users may be saddened that Instagram was ported to the Android platform but that sense of exclusiveness is no match for the die-hard Android fans eagerly waiting for the application. Since its release, Android users have yearned to have an Instagram widget. Their prayers have been answered as BlinxBox has finally made it come true.

So, what does BlinxBox do to enhance user experience with Instagram? The answer is simple: the application is actually a widget in disguise. BlinxBox is an Android home screen widget tailored to display your Instagram feeds. If you’re an avid Instagram user and you have a lot of followers, then this handy little widget will work wonders for you.

The widget is continuously updated with all the latest content. Every time you add a new photo to the stream, BlinBox is smart enough to keep you updated on the latest happenings through lockscreen alerts and status bar notifications. The widget can also be used as a browser and you can sift through photos in your Instagram feed. You can comment on the photos, share the best photos on Facebook, and even show your love for them without ever opening the Instagram application.

BlinxBox also lets you view enlarged versions of images if you find the widget screen size area to be small. What’s even better is that these enlarged versions are complete with all the important details, together with the comments and total number of likes that have been accumulated in the past. The best part is, you don’t need to install the official Instagram client for BlinxBox to run. Just install the application and activate the widget on your phone’s homescreen.

As soon as the widget is set, the BlinxBox icon will automatically be added to the notification area. Tapping the icon will let you configure the widget’s settings.

The BlinxBox widget is so impressive because of the tricks up its sleeve. For example, you can configure the widget to scroll photos automatically in the form of a carousel. However, BlinxBox is restricted only to its default 4×2 widget size and resizing it to your desired shape will be a problem. But, hopefully, we can get around this snag in the next few updates.

BlinxBox is currently in its beta stages and we hope to see more added features in the coming weeks. Try BlinxBox absolutely free from the Google Play Store.
