AWOL LuxVision brings 4K 120Hz and optical shift to UST projection

Projectors are great if you want a ridiculously big picture, but setups with ceiling mounts or long cable runs, along with carefully calculated distances, aren’t exactly living-room friendly.Ultra-short-throw projectors solve much of that by sitting just inches from the wall, and AWOL Vision’s new LuxVision aims to eliminate another compromise by bringing true 4K 120Hz output and optical shift to the format.

Unveiled at IFA 2026, AWOL bills the LuxVision as the world’s first 4K 120Hz ultra-short-throw projector with optical shift. That combination is the main selling point, as you get the smoother motion of a 120Hz display without giving up the living-room-friendly setup of a UST projector. At the same time, the optical shift gives you more freedom to position the image without compromising its 4K detail.

AWOL has loaded the LuxVision up with some serious projection hardware. Its RGB triple-laser light source is rated at 6,000 ISO lumens, while the 0.18:1 throw ratio means it can produce a 120-inch image from just 7.5 inches away. Screen sizes can go all the way up to 200 inches, should you have a suitably ambitious wall.

The 4K 120Hz output should have obvious appeal for gaming and sports, and AWOL lists LuxVision as offering just 1ms input lag, VRR, and ALLM among its supported features. Movies are well catered for as well, with Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, Filmmaker Mode, and 3D support. There are also three HDMI 2.1 ports and DisplayPort for hooking up your various sources.

None of this comes cheap, as you might expect. AWOL says the LuxVision will launch around October for $6,499 in the US, €5,999 in Europe, and £4,999 in the UK. That’s firmly premium-projector territory, but you might feel that bringing high-refresh 4K performance and a bit more positioning freedom to a projector type that’s already much easier to live with than the traditional alternative is worth the money.
