Android 4.4 KitKat introduced quite a few new features when it was announced late last year, though for gamers one of the most exciting changes was the arrival of the immersive mode API.

For those that don’t know, the API allows select games and apps to hide the status bar and navigation panel, allowing the app to use the entirety of your display. Of course, apps have to be updated to work with the feature. Luckily, Gameloft is finally beginning to update many of its popular titles to support the full-screen gaming mode.

As of late last week, Asphalt 8: Airborne became the first Gameloft title to receive an update that adds immersive mode support, though Gameloft confirms that several others games will see support added no later than the end of February.

Here’s the full list of games slated for an immersive mode update:

  • Asphalt 8
  • Blitz Brigade
  • Dungeon Hunter 4
  • Gangstar 4
  • GT Racing 2
  • Heroes of O&C
  • Order & Chaos
  • Order & Chaos Duels
  • Six Guns
  • Total Conquest

If you find that one of your favorite Gameloft titles isn’t on the list, don’t worry. The game developer promises that more titles will likely receive the update down the road, and most future games will come with immersive support ‘out of the box’.

What do you think of immersive mode when it comes to gaming, does it make much a difference to you?
