Android 10 isn't the most popular Pornhub version, as you'd expect, but it's not the second-most popular version either.

Pornhub released its 2019 Year in Review earlier this week, charting everything from the most popular searches to the most popular devices and web browsers. Now, the company has disclosed the most popular Android versions in 2019, as used by Pornhub viewers.

According to the stats obtained by Android Authority, Android Pie accounted for 48% of all Android devices visiting the adult streaming service in 2019. Android 10, which is the latest version of Android, accounted for 2% of all Android devices.

By comparison, Android Oreo accounted for 41.28% of all Android devices visiting Pornhub last year. Android Pie, which was the latest version of Android in 2018, accounted for 2.78% of all users.

It’s interesting to note that 2018’s stats reflect slightly higher adoption of the latest version of Android than 2019. Pornhub’s stats might not be representative of the Android world at large, but it suggests that OEMs might be taking even longer to bring the latest version of Android. We lamented the stats in this regard last year and it’s disappointing if OEMs are indeed getting worse about pushing the latest update in a quick fashion.

Pornhub previously stated that its Indian traffic saw a dip in 2019 due to the government cracking down on adult sites. So it would be interesting to see how Indian traffic affected adoption of the various Android versions if no ban was in place.

Understanding Project Treble and Android updates
Features

One major upside is that adoption of the previous year’s update (Pie for 2019 and Oreo for 2018) is significantly higher in 2019. This suggests that Project Treble is bearing fruit, as devices that shipped with Oreo or higher are required to support the feature — devices that upgraded over the air from Nougat to Oreo didn’t have to support Treble. Project Treble is a framework that allows for quicker and easier updates.

Pornhub’s stats also show that Android Lollipop (5%), Kitkat (1%) and Jelly Bean (1%) users are still visiting the service. In fact, Lollipop users represent more than double the amount of Android 10 users (2%).

The company also shared iOS statistics, and a massive 71% of iOS visitors to Pornhub were running iOS 13 (the latest version). This was followed by iOS 12 (24%) and iOS 11 (3%), all the way down to iOS 10 (1%) and 9 (1%).
