TL;DR
  • The Android P Developer Preview 1 build does contain an Easter egg.
  • However, this hidden feature is a simple one as it shows the letter “P” which changes colors when you tap the back button.
  • Other Easter eggs in previous Android versions were more complex.

The release of the first Android P Developer Preview earlier today brings with it a ton of cool new features that are slated to be in the final version. However, we all know what you really want to learn about. What’s the official Easter egg in Android P and how do I access it?

Well, as it turns out, there is indeed an Easter egg in Android P Developer Preview 1, but some people may be dissapointed to learn that it’s a rather simple one. It’s a stylized letter “P” that changes color as you tap the back button. You can also pinch to zoom to make the P bigger or smaller. That’s about it.

Of course, it’s more than possible that Google’s Android team will slip in a new Easter egg in future releases of Android P. However, for the moment we are not getting anything like the Flappy Bird clone game that was hidden away in Android 5.0 Lollipop, or even the black animated octopus that you could play with in Android 8.0 Oreo.
