TL;DR
  • Android 13 beta 4 is now official.
  • This is a release candidate for Pixels, so it is nearly stable.
  • If you have an earlier beta release installed, you will get this new version automatically.

Today, we have what could be the final Android 13 release before we hit the stable channel in the next few weeks! This time around, it’s Android 13 beta 4.

Recently, Google has pushed several point upgrades for new beta launches. As such, there could be one or more point upgrades for beta 4 on the way. However, even if that does happen, the core of Android 13 is ready to go.

In fact, this new beta is a release candidate for Pixel phones and the Android emulator. “Release candidate” software is exactly what it sounds like: software that’s so near to completion that it could be a potential candidate for a stable launch.

In other words, Android 13 beta 4 is so unbelievably close to being finished that it might as well be stable. With that in mind, there aren’t any new apparent features with this release. Instead, we see Google making subtle refinements and fixing lingering problems.

How to get Android 13 beta 4

If you have an older beta on your Pixel phone, you should see an OTA notification about upgrading to the latest version. If you have a Pixel phone (Pixel 4 or newer) and want to give the new beta a shot, we have a detailed guide on how to get it installed. Don’t worry, you’ll still get the final stable release once it lands.

If all goes to plan, we expect to see the stable release of Android 13 in August. We then expect the Google Pixel 7 series to be the first phones to launch with it out-of-the-box, which could happen in October. Stay tuned!
