Amazon leak offers sneak peek at the next Fire TV Stick 4K

The last time Amazon held a major hardware event was about a year ago, when it unveiled the Fire TV Stick 4K Select. As such, it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if the company were planning a new launch in the very near future. A newly surfaced leak may lend some credence to that idea.

Obtained by the folks over at Winfuture, marketing images for the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K have leaked. According to the outlet, this batch of images comes from its independent retailer sources. The renders reveal a new design for both the stick and the remote.

Starting with the remote, the controller features a flat top and a rounded bottom. As a result, this remote has a less curvy design than previous remotes. The button layout has also changed. While you’ll still find the buttons for quick access to streamers at the bottom, the button to summon Alexa is now in the top right corner. Amazon has reportedly added a backlit, animated home button as well.

The remote isn’t the only thing that’s a little boxier; the streaming stick is also sporting a squared-off design. However, you’ll still be able to plug it into the HDMI port in the back of your TV as before.

Unfortunately, these images were not accompanied by a spec sheet. Since that’s the case, it’s unknown whether this stick will run on Vega OS, as the Select does, or feature Fire OS. If the company does hold a launch event soon, then it won’t be long before we find out.
