Bezel-less vivo Apex 2019 concept set to be unveiled at an event in China

Could vivo's latest concept set the design language for the company's flagship phones in 2019?

vivo V11 review - starry night gradient back plate

After making waves at Mobile World Congress 2018 with the vivo Apex concept, the Chinese brand has just posted a teaser poster for their next generation hardware on Weibo (h/t: MySmartPrice). The image confirms that the company will reveal an all-new vivo Apex at an event in China on January 24.

The teaser (seen below) seemingly points to an all-screen design that could once again avoid a notch or punch-hole. Last year’s vivo Nex was the first phone with a pop-up front facing camera.

The event announcement follows an earlier teaser that was posted by vivo on Weibo (seen below). Predictably short on details, the image indicates a waterdrop design that could suggest an emphasis on curved edges and a complete lack of bezels or a notch.

Like the vivo Nex, the Apex 2019 is expected to be a design prototype for the company’s next-generation flagship. The phone will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chipset with at least 8GB of RAM onboard. Boasting a remarkable 98 percent screen-to-body ratio, the Apex concept was undoubtedly one of the cleanest looking phones from 2018. Rumours indicate that the Apex 2019 could step this up even further.

vivo NEX Dual Display edition review: Dual displays done right

With an in-display fingerprint sensor, pop-up selfie camera and a gorgeous gradient finish on certain models, the production-ready Nex unveiled a few months after the vivo Apex concept was remarkably similar to the concept. Recently, the company introduced a Dual Display edition of the vivo Nex that removed the pop-up camera altogether while opting for a secondary screen at the back for easy selfies with the main camera setup.

While vivo is yet to confirm an international event for the all-new Apex, we expect the company to showcase the phone at next month’s Mobile World Congress. Are you excited to see what vivo has been working on for their next flagship? Let us know in the comments.
