Sony Russian Instagram shares price, launch date, and freebies for Xperia phones

We're not sure if it was intentional or not, but Sony's Russian Instagram just spilled all the details.

TL;DR
  • Sony’s Russian Instagram just spilled the beans on the 2021 Sony phones — possibly unintentionally?
  • Two posts share the launch dates and freebies associated with the Xperia 1 III and 5 III. The Sony.ru site shares the pricing.
  • Sony previously said this information wouldn’t come out until weeks from now.

Earlier this week, Sony launched three new phones in its Xperia line. As usual, the company dished out a ton of information about the hardware, while curiously leaving out the two biggest pieces of the puzzle: price and release date. Sony promised to give that information weeks down the line this Summer.

However, Sony’s official Russian Instagram account shared two images that dish out most of the info it said it was holding back. As of publishing this article, those images are still live here and here. Additionally, the Sony.ru site gives away Russian pricing.

Obviously, the Russian info for these 2021 Sony phones might be different when it comes to other countries. Still, this does give us a roundabout way to guess when we’ll be able to get them, how much we’ll pay, and what freebies might be on offer.

2021 Sony phones: The Russian info

According to the info, the Sony Xperia 1 III will cost 99,990 rubles (~$1,308). It has a scheduled Russian launch date of July 20, 2021. Pre-orders in Russia will come with a set of Sony WF-1000XM3 headphones, which are the true wireless version of Sony’s famous WH-1000XM3 over-ears.

Meanwhile, the Sony Xperia 5 III will cost 84,990 rubles (~$1,112). Its launch date is slightly later on August 3, 2021. The freebie with that phone will be a set of mid-range Sony WF-XB700 true wireless earbuds.

Once again, we have no idea how this info would translate to other parts of the world. However, it’s clear that the phones will be in the $1,000+ range (which was expected) and likely won’t launch until the middle of the Summer. The free headphones deals may or may not come to other parts of the world, too.

Hopefully, we’ll have more information about the global launches of these 2021 Sony phones soon!
