Official WordPress app now available in the Android Market

Bloggers that use WordPress to power their blogs can now easily create posts, manage pages, and administer the comments on their blog while on the go with the official WordPress app from Automattic. The WordPress app made its debut in the App store today and is compatible with and self-hosted WordPress 2.7 or greater blogs. We wrote most of this post with it and, though, it is not as full-featured as the web interface, it works well in a pinch. Interested parties can download it for free through the Android Market with the QR code after the break for those that just love scanning.

Android WordPress app in the works?

Bloggers rejoice!  There may be an official WordPress app in the works for Android devices.  The Blog Herald has discovered that WordPress has created a blog subdomain at  If this is any indication of foreshadowing then let it be known that they did the same thing when creating apps for the iPhone and BlackBerry.  Speculation has it that the app will launch around the Nexus One hoopla around January 5th so be on the lookout.  Right now this is only a strong rumor but as soon as we have more information or details we will let you know.
