In a previous article we published a few days back, we talked about how smartphone payments are expected to replace cash and credit cards as the main payment method by the end of this decade. Following up, if a recent report from Reuters is to be believed, Canada is poised to be there first, as the invasion of smartphone payments is expected to commence there as soon as by the end of this year. According to Reuters, Canada is currently the leader in developing smartphone payment methods, a title won thanks to the high number of retailers and smartphone owners …
While the HTC One XL has been slated for a May 6 release with AT&T in the US, Canadians have reasons to celebrate earlier because HTC’s flagship device is available in their country from yesterday, exclusively through Rogers Wireless. In a press release, Raj Doshi, Rogers’ Senior VP Products, stated that the carrier is excited to bring the HTC One X exclusively for its customers. Operating on Canada’s fastest and largest LTE network will allow customers to upload images, download albums and stream HD music videos, with virtually no delays and buffering. If you are unsure about the specifications, this …
Just a week after finding out that the HTC One X will be made available in Canada on Rogers before the end of the month, we are happy to report that we finally have a suspected launch date from a credible source. According to the Canucks over at MobileSyrup, who’ve supposedly gotten a tip from the “inside”, HTC’s flagship smartphone will start selling in Canada on April 20th. That’s next Friday, for those of you who haven’t checked their calendars, which sounds like a strange release date, in my humble opinion. I mean, there’s little in the way of science …
The HTC One X is, by far, the most exciting Android-based smartphone to launch in April (or May, for that matter, if the Galaxy S3′s release date will be pushed towards summer, as rumors state right now), and the Taiwanese certainly know how to build up the tension and expectations for their upcoming flagship. After being finally put on sale in select European countries yesterday, the 4.7-inch beast might be coming to North America as well in the following couple of weeks. Yeah, it’s still “might” and “could”, because HTC’s officials are, for some reason, putting off the official release …

Rooting your phone will give you that control and make your phone the way you wanted it to be. So, if want to have that control, follow our …

The LTE-capable HTC Raider, formerly codenamed the HTC Holiday–is heading to Canada through mobile networks Bell and Rogers. Rogers has announced that the HTC Raider is heading to stores today, with a marked price of $149.99 for a 3-year contract and $574.99 full retail price. On the other hand, the device will reach Bell’s store on November 1, as reflected in Bell’s updated product page for the HTC Raider. The device will reportedly carry a price of $169.95 on a 3-year contract and $499.95 full retail price–although Bell has not yet published confirmation about the pricing for the smartphone. The …
Canadians may have to update their holiday wishlists as a new Samsung Android smartphone is heading their way via Rogers–the Samsung Galaxy S Glide. MobileSyrup.com, which was sent live photos of the device, was also told that the Samsung Galaxy S Glide will hit Rogers “just in time for the holidays.” Unfortunately, no pricing information is available yet. The Samsung Galaxy S Glide carries a name apt for its 4-row gliding QWERTY keyboard. The device is reportedly thicker than the Samsung Infuse 4G, presumably because of the sliding keyboard. The QWERTY slider smartphone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread on top of …
Though Google has yet to make any kind of official announcement, a new version of the Google Nexus One Android smartphone that is compatible with AT&T and Rogers 3G networks is now available on the Google website. You can see it on the order form here. There’s no option to buy the phone with service at this time, but if you have the US$529 required for the unlocked version’s purchase price, and you need that 850/1900MHz 3G goodness, then here’s your chance.
Rogers caused a stir last month when it pulled the HTC Magic and the HTC Dream from its inventory due to a 911 software glitch. After not being available for several weeks, the Magic has finally made its re-appearance on Rogers website with a new name and a few new features. The new Magic has been re-branded as the Magic+ and, in addition to fixing the 911 problem, the software update has also added Sense UI to the handset. Good news for Magic owners as their aging device has just gotten a cell phone makeover courtesy of Rogers and HTC. …
Rogers faces another setback with its Android handsets. Text messages are being sent to owners of the HTC Magic asking them to turn off GPS as the same 911 software glitch that affects the Dream is also present in the Magic. The nature of the glitch is unknown but owners are being instructed to keep the GPS off while HTC prepares a software update. Similar to the Dream, the HTC Magic has been pulled from all sales outlets until a fix can be applied. With both handsets currently not available for sale, Rogers has not commented on how this glitch …
Just when you thought that the news regarding HTC’s Dream and Rogers had all been resolved comes this scary little glitch making it unable for users to dial 911 while having GPS activated on their phone. Rogers has pulled all HTC Dreams from online and retail locations until a software update is made available and has released this official statement regarding the issue: I’m writing to share some urgent news with our Rogers HTC Dream customers. We have contacted all of our Dream customers by text message asking them to disable GPS location on their HTC Dream device to ensure …
It was reported a few days ago that Rogers would be allowing HTC Dream owners the chance to upgrade to an HTC Magic due to the fact that the Dream would not get an OS update past it’s current iteration of 1.5. This was great news but the details were scarce at the time and there was uncertainty in the terms. It is now being reported that the offer does include a free upgrade, but with a small catch. Customers who opt for the upgrade will automatically have their contract renewed for the Canadian standard of 3 years, which turns …
