Sprint waiting for Android, may launch a device “within a year”

According to a story posted by the Seattle Tech Report, Sprint is in no hurry to get an Android powered cell phone out the door.  It wasn’t so long ago that Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said that Android isn’t good enough yet.  Now, according to Sprint VP Kevin Packingham, the company is waiting for the right time to pull the trigger on the platform.

In a statement not attributed directly to Packingham, the Seattle Tech Report post says that Sprint is planning to launch an Android powered phone within a year from now.

Either way, it doesn’t seem like we will be seeing a Sprint branded Android phone any time soon.

As a sprint customer, these android delays are really bugging me, and are getting me close to changing carriers. I really wish they’d get off their butts here.
