It seems it was only last week the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact were launched in the USA, and they are already getting a price cut. Wait… it was last week!

What is going on here? We can’t say for sure, but we can tell you there are some reasons why people may not want to buy an Xperia Z5 or Z5 Compact. For starters, Sony took forever to launch these phones in the States. Then there’s also the lack of a fingerprint reader, which may be reason enough to push some customers away.

To make up for these woes, Sony is now trying to welcome new users with open arms by cutting what seemed like an unreasonable price. Both devices have been priced down by $60. This brings the Sony Xperia Z5 to $539.99, while the Xperia Z5 Compact will now cost $449.99.

For this price you are getting great specs, even if they do come from 2015. Both phones come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, a 23 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front-facing shooter.

Other specs on the Z5 include a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a 2900 mAh battery. On the other hand, the Xperia Z5 Compact features a 4.6-inch 720p display, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, and a 2700 mAh battery.

Not bad, but is it enough to lure you in? The new and improved 2016 devices are about to hit the market, after all. What do you guys think of these prices – are they more fair? Do you still think they are too high? Hit the comments and let us know what you think!

Problem for Sony is MWC is coming up and every Flagship for 2016 is going to be launched at or around MWC. This was terrible timing for Sony to releases a flagship with last years specs and no fingerprint. One of the most mis-managed companies in this industry.

I want to upgrade my Z3, but I wanted the Z5 Premium for the larger screen size. To bad the premium never made it out here, plus the 2016 versions are right around the corner. Horrible timing, and it seems the US gets left out on premium features. Sad.

I would have bought this phone in a heartbeat had it retained the finger print reader. It’s such a shame. I still can’t understand why they’d remove such a key feature on their flagship device.

I’m very excited to see what the Z6 holds. I’m hoping they keep the waterproofing, get a fingerprint reader in there, use USB Type-C, and go for a 2K (1440p) display. If they keep everything else the same (even the processor!) you can count me in.
