Hot on the heels of the first official Galaxy Note 7 advertisement posted by Samsung Mobile Korea, we now have leaked photos comparing its display with that of the Galaxy S7 Edge ahead of the Note 7’s official launch on August 2.

With less than a week to go before Samsung rolls out what is being touted as the best performing Android device of the year, the rumor mill has been in overdrive. So far, the official Note 7 advertisement has confirmed a fingerprint and pattern unlock, the fabled iris scanner, and that it’s probably IP68 water-resistant. The ad also seems to hint that the Note 7 could arrive with a front-facing flash for selfies and the S Pen.

The latest leaked photos show the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 placed next to four Galaxy S7 Edge handsets from Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. Up against the Super AMOLED panel of S7 Edge, the Note 7’s display seems to be more dull, though that could be because the photographs were taken when the phablet’s brightness was dimming out while the display of the S7 Edge handsets were still at full brightness.

The handset is expected to come with a dual curved display like the S7 Edge and – despite leaks that previously suggested a flat version was in the works – current rumours suggest a flat version has been scrapped.

With Samsung’s official commercial hinting at the S Pen accompanying the Note 7, it’s more likely that the new Note will be similar to the S7 Edge with the addition of the iconic stylus. All will be revealed when Samsung unveils the phablet at its next Unpacked event in New York City on August 2. Until then, stay tuned but let us know in the comments below what you think and whether the Galaxy Note 7 will arrive with a flat display or curved display edges.
