android 5 lollipop (2)

After the official announcement of Android 5.0 Lollipop, Motorola was quick to announce that they would be updating the majority of their Android smartphones to the new OS, just as soon as they could. They are now following that up with an official update tracking page for their devices.

We’ve seen a similar page from Motorola in the past, many of you likely hit the page to find out if your 1st Gen. Moto G or Moto X would get KitKat. Nothing big changes for this one, you get a list of the known devices that will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop and can search for your device from there, if not already listed.

Motorola Devices getting Android 5 Lollipop

The initial offerings are as previously announced. If you are running any generation or version of the Moto G or Moto X, Lollipop is on its way. The Moto E will not be left out and the Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini make the initial cut.

While we now know which Motorola devices will be receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop, we still are not told when that might happen, yet.

The fine print, because there is always fine print, states that delivery dates are subject to the limitations of carriers and partners. They want you to know that they fully plan to update your devices, but things happen, and this could all fall apart. Good thing we have faith in Motorola, who have been consistent in providing updates in a very timely manner of late.

Head on over to the Motorola update page to see if your device is on the list for Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Do you have a Motorola device running KitKat that will not be receiving Lollipop?

Good news for Motorola owners. Meanwhile Samsung S3 and S4 owners are still waiting for Android 4.4 (Outside of the US that is)

    • Erik

S3 wont get 4.4, so no need to wait.. :P

      • Thomas Tee

My Note 2 has updated to 4.4.2 few months ago :)

        • Erik

Yes, but the difference is the amount of ram. Thats why s3 wont get kitkat

          • Guillermo Espinoza

My S3 has had kitkat for like a month or two!!

      • Eric

My S3 has had 4.4.2 since June 2014

        • onell

got 4.4.4 on the same month with my moto g :D

      • Manley Evangelista

My friend’s AT&T S3 got 4.4 and I know someone with a Verizon Galaxy S3 that got KitKat. I know the US variants are getting KitKat, while the international one don’t due to RAM I guess.

    • dodz

My brother’s s4 had 4.4 months ago. and Im outside US.

      • richyo

lol i should have said Australia >.<

    • Rushan

What about the other Motorola phones released alongside with S3, such as Droids….. Motorola has not only 8 phones

      • Josh

They are focusing in the post-google phones maybe? Motorola is not the same company it used to be before Google, and even though they can try to make up for the ‘ old Moto’ shortcomings they cannot fix them all.

    • Lamine

      My S3 (SHV-E210K) is already on 4.4.4 ;)

  • aaa

Thank god, I upgraded my phone to the moto g from the samshit s3.

    • sachouba

At least, the S3 was able to take good photos… ;)
With CM, it is still a great phone.

      • Josh

If your camera doesn’t decide to randomly stop working (CM). Love CM but it is not really reliable on the S3 (it is bearable but by far not stable). The S3 was a great device with nice hardware, but Samsung’s practices when talking about updates are shitty, and that is known.

    • Thats right! With CM it is still one of the best phones.!

    • Jam

      Me too!

    • Manley Evangelista

Put Cyanogenmod on that shit and it should be good phone.

  • Kapitull Krishnappa

Dear SAMSHIT you gotta learn from MOTOROLA. Kudos MOTO!

    • Edgars

      Whos MOTO and whos SAMSHIT?

      • Sunny

        motorola.
        samsung.

    • Mr Paul

Meanwhile the S5 will probably have Lollipop before the Moto X 2013 even soaks.

  • parminder singh

Which time in India ? On Motorola Lollipop

  • John Kiu Miin Fung

    i have motorola Atrix

  • Sanatus

Good thing is that we will wait eternity for Samsung to release lolipop update,oh wait yes you need to buy a new device to recive lolipop update,If you have Galaxy s4 or note 3,you probably won’t receive it…..Pricks

    • YOU will get it, just install cyanogenmod on your phone!!!!

      • Sanatus

I already have it,but thanks for the tip :3

      • Netwern

Read properly, Sanatus was referring about updates from Shamesung, means official channel updates. Your CyanogenMod statement is invalid, and not everyone knows how to flash (even though i know how to flash).

    • Netwern

S4 and Note 3 confirmed WILL receive Lollipop. just a matter of how long will it takes.

  • Balraj

    Hey
Moto g Indian version is not on the list???????
So does that mean ? :(

    Moto g xt1033

    • Fernando Souza

XT1033 is just “Dual-SIM” version of Moto G, and will receive Lollipop same way.

      • Balraj

        Sweet
Your comment made me happy :)

        • bvdjuju

Check the India Motorola site. It says that the XT1033 will get the update just like the US versions.

    • MKB(Quad)HD

No worries, Indian versions will be getting the lollipop update on par with US carrier versions.
Just how it got the kitkat 4.4.4 , so lets wait for the Lollipop treat – the sweetest release by Google.

  • OJ Edwards

Bring on the Lollipop! My Verizon Moto G is getting it!

  • tech4life

So the Razr series has been completely dropped then… shame

    • Gerald Gill

      Yep seems like it

  • pradeep

    Moto e is update??

    • Igor Britto

      yes

  • Bruno Gonçalves Turri

    I have a Razr D3, I just updated to Kitkat 4.4.2 and I won’t get Lolipop…
maybe with luck I’ll get 4.4.3 or 4.4.4

  • Manish Kumar

XT1033 is not listed in Motorola global website of update which in Indian version dual sim 16 GB Smart phone

    • Igor Britto

All variants of the moto x, moto g and moto e will be updated. Don’t worry

  • Phil Rigby

Will my Razr get it? (sorry, just tired of reading questions that are answered in the article.)

  • Benton Trerise

Soooo…. This page was put up with Motorola’s initial blog announcement. There’s even a link to the page in it. AndroidGuys.com caught that. You should be able to as well.

  • Ali

what about motorola droid razr m :(

    • Gerald Gill

Probably not unfortunately you are not alone I also have a droid razr m (XT907) and if the update window is to be believed our last update was 4.4.2 unless Motorola decides to say fuck the update window and updates the droid razr m

  • Viswanathan P

  • Jesus Adolfo

I bought my moto G 4G Unlocked from Amazon… how do I know it’s carrier?

    • Derrick

That means you will get it when Motorola first releases the update, Unlocked phones always get the updates first (most of the time)

  • Diptarun Mind-cool Chatterjee

Yes. i have moto G first gen.

  • crutchcorn

Wow! That’s impressive to see from an OEM! Me likee. :)

  • Jose Romero

The page was live with the same information the same day Motorola announced the updates, which was the day of Lollipop’s official unveiling.
