Google is doing some really amazing things with its virtual reality Cardboard platform, and today it gets even better. Google has just released an application to the Play Store called Cardboard Camera that will actually allow you to take your own VR photos.

The app is pretty simple, and the capture process is super easy. All you need to do is press the Camera button in the app and move it around in a circle like you would to take a panorama. It will take a minute or two to process, but the result is a really cool VR photo. Just tap on your finished photo, press the Cardboard button, and pop your phone into your Google Cardboard viewer. The best part? Cardboard Camera will even record sound when you’re taking your photo, which makes for a much more realistic experience when viewing it through the headset.
