HTC has just announced a pair of executive promotions that will see HTCAmerica getting a new president, as the current holder of the position, Jason Mackenzie, will be transitioning to global Executive Vice President. The new president will be the former vice president of sales for HTCEMEA André Lönne.

Mackenzie leaves his position at the head of the company’s American division after a long and fruitful career there. He was a founding member of the division, and he and his team helped establish the Chinese tech titan state-side by pioneering a number of initiatives. For example, they were the first to get a 4G smartphone at every major mobile operator. Higher-ups hailed Mackenzie’s initiative, and some of his strategies and methods have been put into effect worldwide. His new position will see him reporting directly to CEO Cher Wang.

Taking Mackenzie’s place as the HTCAmerican president will be André Lönne. Lönne has had a great deal of executive experience within the company, having been the country manager of Germany and the VP of sales at HTCEMEA. Lönne will be overseeing business operations throughout the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Of the new president, Chialin Chang, the Global President of Sales, said, “André has had a significant impact on HTC’s businesses across Europe and most recently in North America and with this new role will lead our HTCAmericas team to continue our strategic growth in the region.” Sounds like the region will be in good hands.

What are your thoughts regarding this rearrangement of leadership within the company? What new strategies might Lönne employ to improve the company’s foothold in the western hemisphere? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
