Comcast’s XFINITY TV App Now Supports Tablets

Honeycomb is sweet–and is sweeter with apps that make the digital life easier for tablet users. Comcast’s XFINITY TV app for Android is such an app. U.S. home cable and home Internet service rovider Comcast has just announced an updated, tablet-optimized version of its XFINITY TV app. The app now supports tablets running Android 3.x Honeycomb and higher.

According to Comcast, the tablet-optimized app allows users to “take full advantage of the bigger screens tablets offer compared to smartphones.” The app allows easy scrolling of TV listings and browsing of thousands of shows on On Demand. The app also includes remote control functions for the TV and DVR, enabling users to change channels using an Android tablet, switch to On Demand shows, or schedule DVR recording of shows.

The updated Comcast app also fixes several issues experienced by smartphone users.

XFINITY TV runs on almost all handsets with Android 2.1 Eclair or higher. The app currently has official support for the Motorola XOOM running Android 3.1 Honeycomb, although Comcast says that other yet-to-be-certified tablets may be able to run the app without hassle, provided the tablet has Android 3.1 Honeycomb and a resolution of 1280×800.

      By work, I am referring to actual watching anything on the Tab? I don’t really need another remote.

    Not yet. They don’t allow any shows to watched yet, mine is just a big remote for now. The ipad app allows for about 10 channels (mostly premium movie channels) to be watched, android tabs can’t be far behind.
