Originally designed for distribution by OEMs, Swype has reversed course and is opening up its software to the public as a limited beta. The public version of Swype supports HVGA and WVGA devices, English and Spanish languages, and is feature-limited, though Swype does not identify which features have been removed from the OEM version. Fresh out of Google Labs is the new Gesture Search application which adds a novel search method to any Android 2.0 or greater device. As its name implies, Gesture Search allows you to search your contacts, installed applications, bookmarks, or music tracks by drawing an alphabet gesture on your touchscreen. All three devices have been previously announced and include the Motorola DEXT (CLIQ), the Motorola BACKFLIP, and the Motorola QUENCH (CLIQ XT).
