TL;DR
  • A new Xiaomi smartphone has passed through TENAA.
  • The device packs a 4K display and a 4,400mAh battery in a slim body.

Xiaomi is seemingly gearing up for yet another phone launch, only this time the device in question is packing some enthusiast specs. A phone with model number 2109119BC recently passed through TENAA (h/t GSMArena), showcasing its design and several key specs.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect is its display. The Xiaomi phone wears a 6.55-inch OLED screen, which plenty of the firm’s mid-range models feature. However, the panel has a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. This would be Xiaomi’s first smartphone with a 4K screen, joining the Sony Xperia 1 III in this particular category.

But is this Xiaomi phone a true flagship? Well, the remaining specs are a little too vague to confirm this. The Xiaomi phone employs an octa-core chipset with a 2.4GHz clock. This could be the Snapdragon 778G, a chipset we’ve seen in plenty of recent mid-range Xiaomi phones, but it’s too early to say for sure. The phone also packs up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Additionally, a 64MP primary camera joins two 8MP shooters at the rear.

Aesthetically, the phone’s design is reminiscent of the Xiaomi 10T Pro at the rear, with a bold camera ring around the primary sensor. Interestingly, there’s no apparent selfie camera cut-out up front. The phone’s case is pretty slim, similar to the recently launched 11 Lite NE 5G. It weighs 166 grams while measuring 158mm long, 71.5mm wide, and just under 7mm thick. This body also packs a 4,400mAh battery.

Other notable specs include an “iris recognition” sensor and an under-display fingerprint sensor. The device lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot.

Xiaomi 4K smartphone: What could it be?

It’s not immediately clear where this phone fits in Xiaomi’s pecking order. The chipset suggests it isn’t gunning for other flagships, but the 4K display is not something we’ve seen on mid-range phones.

But what do you think of the phone? Does its specs list appeal to you, and would you buy a Xiaomi phone with a 4K screen? Vote in our poll above, and let us know in the comments below.
