Google-owned navigation service Waze has just released an informative series of infographics that list the best and worst places to drive in the world. Waze evaluated the driving experience of about 50 million users of the service in 32 countries and 167 metro areas, rating their experiences on a scale from satisfying (10) to miserable (1). The infographics take into account traffic levels, road quality, driver safety based on accidents and even how easy it is to find a gas station.

Despite the fact that Netherlands is one of the most densely-populated areas in the world, the country outranked all the other countries with the least amount of traffic. What’s even more surprising is that the United States, as if we’re living in some sort of alternate reality, scored an impressive 7.2 on Waze’s scale, achieving the title as the third-best place to drive in the world. After personally driving in some of the most populated cities in the U.S., I find this a little hard to believe.

On the flip side, if given the chance, you probably won’t want to drive in El Salvador, Guatemala or Venezuela anytime soon. These countries scored an unfortunate 2.1, 3.0 and 3.1 on Waze’s scale, respectively. The reason for the low scores, according to Waze, is due to “frequency and severity of traffic jams, lack of driver services, and poor road infrastructure.”
