How to turn location off on BeReal
BeReal is really convenient for those who don’t want to check social media all the time. It’s almost therapeutic for Instagram addicts who are used to checking others’ Instagram stories and posts every five seconds. It’s also great because it dissuades you from posting new content all the time. That said, certain information on the limited posts can “give you away,” so to speak. One of those things would be your location. Let’s review how to turn off location on BeReal.

To turn off location on BeReal, go to your phone's settings. Go to Apps > BeReal > Permissions > Location. From there, you can disallow BeReal from accessing your phone's location information.
To disable location from within the app, start a new post. On the Send options screen, tap Share my position if it's blue with a checkmark to turn off your location.

How to disable location when posting on BeReal
If you want to disable your location within BeReal so your posts don’t show where you took them, you can do so during the actual posting process. Note that, right now, you cannot remove location from a BeReal that has already been posted. If need be, you can delete your current BeReal and repost a new one with position disabled.
To turn off location when posting a new BeReal, start your post. In the Send options screen, under Other options, you will see the Share my position button. Tap this if it’s blue with a checkmark to turn off your location.
How to turn off location for BeReal (Android settings)
Another way to disallow BeReal from accessing your position is to disable the permission from the app manually. If you own an Android, you can also turn off location completely from the quick settings dropdown.
- Go to Settings on your phone.
- Go to Apps. This button is sometimes called Apps & notifications.
- Within the list of your downloaded apps, tap BeReal.
- Tap Permissions.
- Tap Location.
- Under LOCATION ACCESS FOR THIS APP, select Don’t allow.
How to turn off location for BeReal (iPhone settings)
If you own an iPhone, the process is just as simple as it is on Android. Manually disabling location from BeReal makes it so that nobody sees where you’re posting from.
- Go to Settings on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap BeReal.
- Under ALLOW BEREAL TO ACCESS, tap Location.
- Under ALLOW LOCATION ACCESS, select Never.
Currently, the only way to do this is to disallow the app from accessing your location information. This can be done from within your phone’s Settings.
BeReal doesn’t have the option to turn off location for all posts in its settings. If you want to remove your location from within the app, you must do so during the posting process.
