If U.S. trademark filings and domain name registrations were to serve as clues, Toshiba’s upcoming ultra-thin tablet just might have given away its upcoming name–the Toshiba Excite.

Android Police reports that Babyfacemagee, one of the administrators of ThriveForums.com, found some recent trademark filings that gave an idea of the name for Toshiba’s upcoming tab.  Babyfacemagee is the same guy who discovered the name “Thrive” for the earlier Toshiba tablet.

Babyfacemagee reportedly found U.S trademark filings for the term ‘EXCITE’.  The trademark filing was from Toshiba American Information Systems and was categorized for use for ‘Tablet Computers.’  The person also found out domain names like ‘excitetablet.com,’ ‘toshibaexcite.com,’ ‘excitetablet.net,’ ‘toshibaexcite.net,’ and ‘thetoshibaexcite.com,’ which are all registered by Toshiba and redirect to a Toshiba site.

These could be compelling clues for the new Toshiba tablet’s name, since Babyfacemagee reportedly used the same methods previously for the Toshiba THRiVE, and the results turned out accurate.

Although we could safely assume that ‘EXCITE’ will be the name for the newest Toshiba tablet, we will consider this rumor for now.

Rumors has it that this tablet will be used to represent Toshiba against Apple’s iPad and other leading Android tablets to be launched at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA 2011) in Berlin this week.

According to recent reports, Toshiba’s upcoming tablet is said to have an ultra slim body, with ports and slots for a full tablet (e.g., microUSB, micro HDMI, and microSD ports).  The upcoming tablet will have a slimmer design compared to the Toshiba THRiVE and will sport a back cover with brushed metal finish. According to sources, the tablet will be featuring a dual-core, 1.5-GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4460. Earlier rumors said that it will be using NVIDIA’s dual-core processor, the Tegra 2.

The trademark filings and domain name registrations do not necessarily mean that the upcoming tablet will be actually named the Toshiba Excite.  For all we know, “Excite” could be for another different upcoming device from Toshiba.

I find the “Excite” name not very exciting.  Do you?  What might be a better, more exciting name for Toshiba’s upcoming slim and sexy tablet?
