Original Story:

Cheap brand devices aren’t just the flavour of the year in China and India, local retailers have been dabbling in the idea for a little while too. UK supermarket Tesco has today announced the details of its Hudl2 tablet, which will cost just £129.

The previous Hudl was a huge success for the retailer. It sold over 750,000 units since its launch last year, 35,000 of which flew off the shelves within the first two days. Demand was much higher than Tesco had expected, and has encouraged the company to launch the larger FullHD 8.3-inch Hudl2.

Inside the device there is a quad-core 1.83GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 5 MP rear facing camera, 16GB of internal storage, and an SDcard slot for an extra 48GB of space, if need be. The tablet will also ship with Android 4.4 KitKat and an unspecified battery size which will apparently last around 8 hours from a full charge. Not bad for £129, and quite comparable to Amazon popular tablet range. However, it’s not clear if the Intel chip, rather than an ARM SoC, will result in compatibility issues with some Play Store apps.

Tesco is also offering a much wider range of accessories with the Hudl2. The tablet will come in over 64 different case and colour combinations, including matching on or in-ear headphones, screen-protectors, and your choice of stylus.

The Tesco Hudl2 will go on sale on October 8th through its storefronts and online shop, priced at £129. To make the deal even sweeter, customers can put their Tesco Clubcard points towards the tablet at double their value. Every £5 Clubcard voucher can be transferred into £10 towards the Hudl2, and the price can drop as low at just £65!

If the Hudl2 is as popular as the previous model, stock could run out sharpish. Fortunately, Tesco customers can sign up for stock alerts.
