T-Mobile’s LG Optimus L9 and Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G might not be winning any awards for best smartphone on the block, but they will both be benefiting from a healthy dose of Jelly Bean 4.1.2 soon.

The Optimus L9 is a solid mid range device, as is the slide out, QWERTY keyboard fitted Galaxy S Relay 4G. The two T-Mobile phones will be receiving the update from today, with the as per usual method of OTA. The Galaxy S Relay 4G also allows you to download the update from Samsung Kies, if you so wish. The Optimus L9 received the Jelly Bean update last month in Europe, so it’s good to see LG pushing the update to U.S. T-Mobile users as well.

The Optimus L9 update file is a sizeable 350MB, but the Relay 4G update is even bigger at 411MB, so remember to have plenty of battery on hand. The Jelly Bean update will contain all of the usual improvements, like Google Now, Project Butter, expandable notifications and a host of bug fixes.

Have you got the update yet? Let us know in the comments.
