Get ready to pull your hair with Flappy Bird creator's new "Swing Copters"

Remember Flappy Bird? It's developer, Dong Nguyen, is ready to release an equally hard (and addictive) game named Swing Copters.
August 18, 2014

I still remember the first time I tried Flappy Bird, the overnight sensation that took the internet by surprise. I played and played… and I didn’t stop for days. The game became a global addiction, a fact that later turned out to be its doom. Now developer Dong Nguyen is ready to release an equally hard (and addictive) game named Swing Copters.

The new game follows a nature similar to its predecessor, except this time you are trying to move up, instead of from left to right. It’s simple, yet very hard, a combination that will result in many a hair pulling session. But despite the frustrated masses, it’s all but guaranteed to be a success. It fits the “anatomy of a viral game“, and Mr. Nguyen is now so popular that any of his games will receive massive attention.

This could very well be an altered version of a game Dong Nguyen mentioned to The Rolling Stone a few months ago. In an interview with the popular news source, he stated he was working on 3 games: a cowboy-themed shooter, an “action chess game” and a vertical flying game. The latter of the three was to be named “Kitty Jetpack”, a game that sounds oddly similar to Swing Copters.

In addition to those 3 games (and Flappy Bird), Dong once announced via Twitter that he was working on a game that featured a boy jumping between buildings, making Nguyen quite the successful multi-tasker. We are not sure Dong will be releasing these other games, but Swing Copters looks like a fun app to pass some time with.

Swing Copters is scheduled for release this Thursday, August 21st. You can opt between a free version or a $0.99 ad-free iteration. Do know there is no option but to continue playing after you start, though.
