It appears as if the specs for a yet-to-be-announced Xperia handset have recently leaked. The device is still sporting a codename, and at this point in time is known as the Sony Xperia Dogo. We have yet to see anything official in terms of when it will be announced, or even a final spec sheet at this point.
What we have uncovered though, is coming by way of a Japanese tech site, Blog of Mobile, and they have suggested that the Xperia Dogo could be announced in Q1 2013. That sounds like we could possibly see an announcement during CES, which takes place in Las Vegas in early January. CES 2013 will run from January 8 – 11, 2013. Perhaps more interesting as compared to speculating on a possible announcement timeframe — the leaked specs.
That being said, keep in mind — these are leaked specs and therefor subject to change. With that warning out of the way, lets get into the goodies. The Xperia Dogo is expected to arrive running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which given the possible release time, that should probably be expected. The remaining specs include the following;
- 4.65-inch (1280 x 720) HD LCD with the Mobile Bravia Engine
- Quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon processor
- 1GB of RAM
We will say that it seems a bit strange that Sony would only include 1GB of RAM with the quad-core processor though. We can hope that will end up as 2GB. Otherwise, there was mention of the handset being both waterproof and dust proof. Bottom line here, given the limited details it is a bit hard to get super excited about the Dogo just yet. But what that really means is that we will remain on the lookout for, and keep you up to date with any additional details moving forward.
