Samsung has released a bigger Galaxy Z Fold 2, but you won't be able to buy it
- Samsung has launched a new phone akin to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 but with a taller body.
- It’s called the Samsung W21 5G and features a metallic gold finish.
- The foldable phone is only available in China right now.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 is already a massive device to carry around, but the brand has now launched an even bigger version of the foldable phone.
Called the Samsung W21 5G, the device is currently only available in China. No, it’s not the Chinese variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 as Samsung already sells that in the country.
The only difference between the W21 5G and Z Fold 2 is a flashier design and a taller body.
The shell of the W21 5G sports a metallic gold finish with a ribbed texture on the back panel. It’s still covered by glass at the back, but we’re not sure if Samsung is using the same Gorilla Glass Victus it uses on the Galaxy Z Fold 2. The company has also attached a “7-layer nano-level optical film” to the glass back to add to the phone’s polished gold appearance.
Elsewhere, the Samsung W21 5G continues to carry a 7.6-inch main display and a 6.23-inch outer screen. Other specs of the phone are also identical to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, including the Snapdragon 865 Plus chip, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage, dual SIM slots, and Android 10.
The phone is priced at 19,999 Chinese yuan (~$3,019) compared to the 17,000 Chinese yuan price of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 (~$2,566). There’s no word on a global launch for the device. Samsung’s W series traditionally only sells in China, so we doubt it’ll come bearing that name even if Samsung launches the phone in other markets.
