TL;DR
  • Samsung’s One UI 4.0 beta has missed the expected September 9 release date.
  • A Samsung Community Manager has confirmed that the software is not ready yet.
  • There’s no word on a specific rollout date, but the beta should be available sometime later this month.

Samsung’s next big upgrade to its Android skin will come in the form of One UI 4.0. The Android 12-based software is highly anticipated since Samsung’s last One UI 3.1.1 update didn’t really add many new features to its phones. Samsung has already committed to a September launch for One UI 4.0, and it was expected to first hit the company’s home market in South Korea on September 9. However, that didn’t happen.

Samsung’s South Korean Community Manager responsible for providing updates about the One UI 4.0 beta confirmed to members that the software will not be rolling out on the planned September 9 date. “We ask for your understanding and we cannot inform you of the schedule until the beta is open,” the community manager noted (machine translated) in a forum post.

Samsung beta incharge hasn’t really specified the cause or the length of the delay. However, since the company has already committed to a September rollout, the One UI 4.0 beta shouldn’t be too far off. That said, the prospects of the update rolling over this weekend are slim.

One thing is for certain — Samsung will release the One UI 4.0 beta in South Korea before it hits other markets like the US. So stay tuned and if you spot the new beta before we do, drop us a tip here and we’ll be sure to thank you for it.
