Samsung plans “major” Galaxy event for August 15, it’s not a phone
Yesterday, Samsung sent out a “Save the Date” message to the press, announcing a mystery major event due to happen on August 15 at 10AM EST. The message is light on details, other than the fact that a new Galaxy device will be unveiled.
SAVE THE DATEAugust 15, 201210:00AM ESTPlease join Samsung Electronics America for a major announcement and unveiling of the newest GALAXY device. An exclusive press conference will take place where full details will be disclosed. An invitation with details will follow soon.Thank you.
What can it be? The Samsung Galaxy Note 2? We wished, but the successor of the Note is most likely to be unveiled at a Samsung Unpacked event scheduled close to the start of the IFA 2012 expo on August 30.
Plus, as 9to5Google notes, the invite came from Samsung Electronics America, not Samsung Telecommunications America, which usually handles mobile phones.
So, if it’s not a phone, it’s a tablet right? It could be the Galaxy Note 10.1, which became available for pre-order recently (for good this time), but it hasn’t been officially announced yet. Samsung is expanding its Galaxy branding to cameras, apparently, so we might see that on August 15. But in my opinion, the smart money is on the Note 10.1 and I personally can’t wait to learn more about the new flagship tab from Sammy.
What do you think this mystery Galaxy device is?
