TL;DR
  • Samsung’s largest India store has spilled the beans on the Galaxy S21 series.
  • We now know the launch date and India availability and pre-order details for the flagships.
  • The outlet also confirmed some camera specs for the Galaxy S21 Ultra and colorways for all three models.

Update: December 10, 2020 (5:08 AM ET): The Samsung store has now confirmed the exact India sale date for the Galaxy S21 series as well as the fact that it’ll be powered by the Exynos 2100 in the country. We’ve updated the original article with these details.

Original article: December 10, 2020 (3:49 AM ET): Samsung will launch the Galaxy S21 series globally January 14, as confirmed to Android Authority by Samsung’s largest mobile experience store in India. Sales for the flagship series will commence January 29 in India as stocks will only reach the country a week after the global launch, store executives at Samsung’s Opera House outlet in Bengaluru told us over the phone.

The exclusive Samsung store has also started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra in India. One can pre-book the next-gen Samsung flagships by paying Rs 2,000 (~$27) and the store will keep buyers apprised of the exact availability and delivery details via WhatsApp. Those who pre-book can select their preferred S21 model after the phones are officially announced, so they need not lock on to a particular model if they pay the pre-booking amount right now.

Besides confirming the launch and India availability details, executives at the Samsung store also confirmed the colorways for the three upcoming models.

As per our information, the Samsung Galaxy S21 will be available in gray, pink, purple, and white colorways. The Galaxy S21 Plus will launch in pink, purple, silver, and black. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line Galaxy S21 Ultra will only come in black and silver colorways. We’ve already seen renders and teasers showing the phones in some of these colors.

The Samsung store confirmed previously leaked camera specs for the Galaxy S21 Ultra namely a 108MP main camera, two 10MP sensors, one of which will support 10x optical zoom, and laser autofocus. We didn’t get details on the fourth sensor, but it’s purported to be a 12MP shooter.

All the S21 units in India will be powered by the unannounced Exynos 2100 chipset, not the Snapdragon 888, per Samsung store executives.
