Highest-end Galaxy S10 could have 5G support, 6 cameras, 6.7-inch display
- A new report from The Wall Street Journal includes some new rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S10.
- According to the report, the top-end Galaxy S10 could have six cameras (two on the front, four on the back), 5G support, a huge display, and reverse wireless charging.
- The WSJ says we can expect this beast of a phone in the spring of 2019, after the initial launch of the “regular” Galaxy S10 devices.
Yesterday, SamMobile posted some new rumors surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10. Now, we have a report from The Wall Street Journal which seems to corroborate some of the rumors from yesterday — and add in a few more for good measure.
According to the latest rumors, the Galaxy S10 will have four distinct models: an entry-level model with mid-range hardware and a cheaper price; a “vanilla” model which will be the direct successor to the Samsung Galaxy S9; a “Plus” model which will be the direct successor to the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus; and a top-end model which will have 5G support.
The first three models — codenamed Beyond 0, Beyond 1, and Beyond 2 — could be announced at CES 2019 in January and then released to stores in February. Then, in late February at MWC 2019, Samsung might launch the top-end model with 5G support.
According to The Wall Street Journal, this top-end Galaxy S10 could also feature six cameras (two on the front and four on the back, possibly configured like the Samsung Galaxy A9, pictured above), a massive 6.7-inch display, and reverse wireless charging, similar to what we saw on the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro.
The WSJ cites the source of this information as “people familiar with the matter,” which isn’t exactly the most ironclad of proof. As such, take all of this with a massive grain of salt.
However, considering multiple publications are reporting similar rumors at this point from (presumably) different sources, it does seem to suggest Samsung is going all-out with the Galaxy S10. This makes sense considering the company’s mobile division is in “crisis mode” and needs to bet big on the Galaxy S10. Even if only half of these rumors come true, it does suggest we’re going to see big changes — and big risks — from Samsung in 2019.
