New Galaxy Note 9 Android 9 Pie beta arrives with Dec. 2018 security patch
- Samsung is pushing a new update to all Samsung Galaxy Note 9 owners beta testing Android 9 Pie.
- The software update comes with numerous bug fixes as well as the December 2018 security patch.
- Galaxy Note 9 users on the stable version of Oreo should get the December security patch soon.
If you’re a beta tester for Android 9 Pie on your Samsung Galaxy Note 9, we have some good news: the second beta update for your device is rolling out now, via SamMobile.
The update comes with software version N960FXXU2ZRL6 and weighs about 554MB. If you’re a One UI beta tester, you can get the newest update by opening up the Settings app on your Note 9, navigating to Software Update, and then tapping the Download & Install button.
The newest update comes with a bevy of fixes for problems like the following:
- Autofill not working
- Freezing of dialer app
- Night Mode issues
- Samsung Pass auto-login problems
- Lack of alarms
- Missing “Close All” button in recent apps switcher
- …and many more
Unfortunately, this update doesn’t fix the lack of Iris Scanning. Since Samsung is likely doing away with Iris Scanning in the future Samsung Galaxy S10 devices, this is probably a low-priority fix for the company.
Along with these fixes, the newest One UI beta update for the Note 9 also includes the December 2018 Android security patch. Since the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus just received that patch, it’s likely Note 9 owners on the stable version of Oreo will see the patch arrive sometime soon, possibly even this week.
