Samsung Chromebook 2 now available for pre-order, shipping later this month

The Samsung Chromebook 2 is now available for pre-order, priced at $320 for the 11.6-inch model or $400 for the 13-inch variant.
April 7, 2014

Last month Samsung officially announced the sequel to its popular Samsung Chromebook, with the promise that the device would start shipping sometime in April. Seven days into the month and the Samsung Chromebook 2 has yet to officially touch down, but starting today it can be pre-ordered via Amazon.

While pre-orders open today, the Samsung Chromebook 2 isn’t expected to ship until sometime in later April, with no exact date specified just yet. There are two different versions of the laptop for sale, an 11.6-inch model for $320 or a 13-inch model for $400.

As for the specs, both models of the Chromebook 2 feature an octa-core Exynos 5 CPU, 4GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a battery life of at least 8 hours of battery life. There’s also USB 2.0, 3.0, HDMI out, a 720p webcam and microSD. So what sets the two models apart? Aside from screen size and resolution (1366×768 vs Full HD on the 13-inch model) , the only other difference between the 11.6-inch and 13-inch model is that the former weighs 2.4 pounds while the later is a bit heftier at 3.1 pounds.

Planning on picking up the Samsung Chromebook 2, or are still not quite sold on the idea of Chrome OS?
