TL;DR
  • Redmi is purportedly working on two more standout devices in 2021.
  • This includes a phone with a Snapdragon 800-series SoC, 120Hz OLED screen, and telephoto camera.
  • It’s also claimed that the brand will offer 100W charging and under-display cameras next year.

Redmi has teased the K50 series already, with a leaker claiming that the new flagship phones could offer Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 895 chipset. This means we’ll likely only see it in late December or early January at the soonest.

Now, Weibo tipster Bald Panda has claimed that the Xiaomi sub-brand still has two more relatively capable smartphones coming in the second half of the year. Check out a machine-translated version of the post below.

The leaker claims that Redmi is working on a device with a Snapdragon-800 series processor, a 120Hz OLED screen, a 5,000mAh battery, and a 3X telephoto camera with 30X zoom. They also allege that the brand is working on a second phone, packing a Dimensity 1100 chipset, a 120Hz display (no word on whether it’s OLED or LCD), and a 5,000mAh battery with 67W charging.

The latter phone sounds an awful lot like the Chinese Redmi Note 10 Pro, which is rumored to globally debut as the POCO X3 GT.

Nevertheless, the former device looks pretty intriguing, as the current range of Snapdragon 800-toting Redmi phones lack telephoto cameras and offer smaller batteries. In fact, the last Redmi phone with a telephoto camera might be last year’s China-only Redmi K30 Pro Zoom or 2019’s Redmi K20 series.

Another interesting claim by the leaker is that Redmi is lining up several notable technologies in 2022. These technologies include curved screens, under-display selfie cameras, and 100W charging capabilities. We hope to see the latter two features in particular come to phones with attractive price tags.
