The Huawei Mate 9 was released in December of 2016 running Android 7.0 Nougat. Beneath its 5.9 inch IPS LCD display lies the HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset, featuring an octa-core processor clocked up to 2.4 GHz, paired with the Mali-G71MP8 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Powering the device is a 4000mAh battery. Huawei included a dual rear camera setup, 20MP and 12MP, with Leica optics, Phase Detection & Laser Autofocus, and Dual-Tone flash. The Mate 9 has an 8MP front-facing camera. The phone offers 64GB of internal storage and up to 256GB extra either via the dedicated microSD card slot or the second SIM slot depending on the variant. The Mate 9 also packs fingerprint recognition, USB Type-C, and a variant also features dual SIM support.
