While most Android manufacturers are moving away from giving us unnecessary buttons, Pressy arrived on Kickstarter last year with goal of letting us add an extra physical key via our headphone jacks, and it was a surprise hit.
Since then, Pressy has continued to receive a high level of consumer interest and we have even seen third-party alternatives like Xiaomi MiKey and app-only solutions like QuickClick. But when is the Pressy actually going to start arriving to the hands on interested consumers? That’s a great question, and one that many of the project’s Kickstarter backers would like to know as well.
The Pressy originally promised it would start shipping out in March, and now it’s mid-April and still no Pressy. The good news is that Pressy’s creators say that their hardware partner has now begun production and that the 40,000 Kickstarter-claimed Pressy buttons will ship starting April 28th.
Late is certainly better than never, and to make up for missing its original release target, the team will provide a redesigned holster. Beyond making it easy to add the holstered Pressy to a keychain, you’ll also now be able to connect it to your headphones to ensure the Pressy doesn’t get lost.
What do you think of the Pressy, anyone planning on picking one up once it’s more widely available or do you feel “less more” when it comes to physical buttons?
