Google Play Music offers tons of different ways to listen to all types of media, but podcasts have been notably missing from that list for some time now. That’s changing soon, as Google has just announced that podcasts are making their way to Google Play Music!

Google has already launched a portal for podcasters that will allow them to start uploading their shows to Play Music before the service is opened up to listeners. Not only will listeners be able to search directly and browse for podcasts, the service will also connect new listeners with podcasts based on what they’re doing, how they’re feeling, or what they’re interested in. This is similar to Google’s contextual playlists for music.

The company is already working with over a dozen popular podcasts and networks to bring their shows to Play Music when this new service rolls out. The list of networks that will be available at the start include:

  • 5by5
  • Dan Carlin
  • Dave Ramsey
  • Earwolf
  • Feral Audio
  • Gimlet Media
  • HBO
  • Head Gum
  • HowStuffWorks
  • Loud Speakers Network
  • Nerdist / Legendary
  • Public Radio International
  • Radiotopia / PRX
  • Sideshow Network
  • Slate / Panoply
  • StarTalk Radio
  • This Week in Tech
  • Tim Ferriss

We’re not entirely sure when podcasts will become available on Play Music, but we’ll be sure to let you know once we learn more. For now, if you have a podcast, you can begin uploading them by following the link below.
