Pebble smartwatches to hit UK high streets next month

The original Pebble and Pebble Steel smartwatches will be available through O2 and Currys/PC World stores in the UK sometime next month.
October 2, 2014

Just over two years ago Pebble closed funding for its successful smartwatch Kickstarter campaign, and now finally the company has expanded shipping to the bustling high streets of the UK.

Both of Pebble’s smartwatches will go on sale in stores next month through UK carrier O2 and electronics high street retailer Currys/PC World, although an exact date has not yet been confirmed. However this isn’t exactly a first for the UK, Pebble watches have been available via Amazon for quite a while already.

Once again, pricing in pounds doesn’t exactly correspond with the now reduced retail price in the US. The regular Pebble watch will cost £99, whilst the more stylish looking Pebble Steel will cost £179. The swanky cherry-red version will be an exclusive to O2.

Despite the recent wave of Android Wear devices, Pebble is still in the relatively unique position of being able to offer over a week’s worth of battery life, due to its efficient e-paper display, and the Pebble store now contains over 4,000 apps. We will have to see if that is enough to enamor high street patrons with the smartwatch.
