TL;DR
  • A leak suggests the OPPO Find X3 Pro will include a 3MP “microscope” macro camera.
  • You’d also see two new 50MP main cameras.
  • The Find X3 Pro is already known to pack a Snapdragon 888 and a highly accurate display.

OPPO may rely on more than a super-accurate display to lure you toward the Find X3 Pro. Well-known leaker Evan Blass has shared claimed specs for the Find X3 Pro on Voice, suggesting that the cameras may play at least as much a role in OPPO’s future flagship as the screen.

There would be two new 50MP Sony IMX766 sensors for standard and ultra-wide shots, but the standout may be a 3MP macro camera with 25X zoom and a ring of lights — it would effectively be a “microscope” lens, Blass said. You could also expect a 13MP telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom.

You’d also get a dual-cell 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W wired and OnePlus 8 Pro-style 30W wireless charging. In an odd twist, you’d find a “dual-body” NFC antenna that lets you use tap-to-pay and other services regardless of the phone’s orientation. You wouldn’t have to worry about holding the phone upside-down when you make a purchase at the store, in other words.

The specs leak otherwise expand on what you might already know about OPPO’s Find X3 Pro, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing. While it’s not surprising that the phone would center around a 6.7-inch, 1440p display with end-to-end 10-bit color, it’ll reportedly offer an adaptive refresh rate like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, ranging between a smooth 120Hz and a battery-saving 10Hz depending on your activity.

Like many other Android vendors, OPPO has confirmed it will use the high-end Snapdragon 888 chip. The design could tout curved glass on both the front and back, so don’t expect the return of flat screens in the near future.

OPPO will formally unveil the Find X3 Pro in the first quarter of 2021 and ship it early in the second quarter, Blass said in the specs leak. If so, you’ll have to wait a while to understand how well the new phone fares compared to the Find X2 Pro. From all indications, though, OPPO is determined to have the X3 Pro stand out like its predecessor.
