The bargain OnePlus One smartphone will be available for purchase in India soon, but you’ll still need to get hold of an invite before you can buy yours. One specific to the region in fact.

This is good news for would-be Indian customers, as they won’t have to compete with the general batch on invites. Hopefully meaning that acquiring one won’t be as difficult as it was when the OnePlus One first launched.

As with our current launch countries, Indian users will be able to purchase the One with an India specific invite… Don’t worry. Invites will be neither scarce nor impossible to come by.

Earlier in the month, OnePlus announced that it was in talks with Indian e-commerce partners to help distribute smartphone throughout the country. It was also implied that invites would be replaced with a pre-order system when the handset arrived in India, but that appears to be on hold for now. OnePlus is still working on this strategy, but will be selling through the invite method in the meantime.

We’ll also be working with a local partner for an even easier way to get your hands on the One…. The invite system may not stay in place forever.

The good news is that the invite system appears to temporary. The smartphone will likely go on general sale once the invite rollout is underway and details can be finalized with the local partner. Although there’s no indication of how long this could take.

OnePlus will be dishing out India specific invites through its forum and social media channels, so they might be worth adding to your bookmarks.
