OnePlus is set to apply its “Never Settle” mantra to the world of portable audio. The company has announced a partnership with renowned American audio electronics developer JBL, which includes set of JBL E1+ earphones and a Special Edition version of the OnePlus One.

The JBL E1+ headphones will costs $39.99 directly from OnePlus. As you would expect from any decent set of headphones, the JBL E1+ offers a full audible frequency range, up to 22 kHz. The earphones are powered by 9mm JBL drivers, which use the company’s PureBass technology to reach ultra-low frequencies of just 10 Hz.

The headphones also feature controls that can be used for answering calls, adjusting volume, skipping tracks and, somewhat oddly, can also be used to take pictures. The earphones will be available in a snazzy red color and OnePlus insists that the cable is also tangle resistant.

Some further digging on the Chinese OnePlus blog reveals that the company is also working on a special JBL powered version on its One handset. The JBL variant features a custom dual-speaker setup for improved audio quality and a software equalizer. The package will also come with a pair of E1+ earphones in the box.

Unfortunately, the blog post doesn’t reveal any details in regards to the handset’s regional availability, other than that it is expected to have a price tag of 2,199 Yuan and will go on sale on October 17th in China.

The JBL E1+ earphones will be available for purchase later this month. We are waiting to hear word from OnePlus on the wider availability of its JBL edition smartphone.
