Nvidia Shield Tablet to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop 'and more'

Nvidia has confirmed that the Shield tablet will be making the jump to Android 5.0 Lollipop, though no exact timeframe has been revealed.
October 16, 2014

Yesterday was a big day for Google, as they announced the next version of their mobile OS, Android 5.0 Lollipop. While the Nexus 9 will be the first tablet to include Lollipop out of the box, Nvidia Shield Tablet owners won’t be too far behind it seems.

In a new Tweet, Nvidia reveals that “Android 5.0 Lollipop and more is coming to the Nvidia Shield Tablet.” This could mean a number of features may also be headed to the Shield Tablet, though we are unsure specifically of what those may be. The big takeaway is it sounds like Nvidia is taking updates to the tablet seriously, which fans of the $300 powerhouse should be welcoming with open arms.

Of course, Nvidia doesn’t tell us when the update is coming, only that it is. Here’s to hoping it happens in a matter of weeks or even a few months, as opposed to dragging on into 2015. We’ll be sure to update you as soon as we learn more!
